This breathtaking turquoise lake in our beautiful Pakistan offers a panoramic view of high mountain peaks including the glorious K2, Broak Peak, BainthaBrakk, and Gasherbrum IV which has become a major tourist attraction.
Rush Lake is best visited in the summer to see its glistening water, as it is frozen for 9 out of 12 months of the year. The lake is accessible via a trek of 10-14 hours with 2 campsites along the way at Berichokor and ChidinHarai.
To get to the lake one has to reach
and then Karimabad and then start the trek at Hopar valley.
The main attraction is not just the lake being one of the highest in the world but also the amazing Karakorum peaks that accompany you through the trek including a glimpse of the magnificent K2 peak.
Once you have reached the Hopar valley through Hunza via Jeep, you start on an adventurous trek that takes you from Hopar to BarpuGiram to Gutens to Rush lake. Alternatively, there are 2 campsites at Berichokor and the other at ChidinHarai.
As these are summer settlements, therefore, they are perfect to spend late afternoons. You also get a chance to meet the local families of the Nagar valley who have settled here for the season.
