Fairy Meadows, in the Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan, is a beautiful grassland near one of the Nanga Parbat’s base campsites that attracts tourists. German hikers used to call it Fairy Meadows while the local name is Jaugth.

Fairy Meadows is famous for its breathtaking natural beauty, lush green meadows surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks, and its proximity to the base of Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest mountain in the world. It’s a paradise for trekkers, nature lovers, and photographers, offering stunning views and a serene atmosphere.

Enchanting Landscape of Fairy meadows

It is known to be the launching area for trekkers at a height of 10,800 ft. above sea level. The Government of Pakistan declared Fairy Meadows a National Park in the year 1995.

Best Time to Visit Fairy Meadows

The best time to visit Fairy Meadows is during the summer months from May to September. This period offers pleasant weather with clear skies, making it ideal for trekking and enjoying the scenic beauty of the meadows and surrounding mountains. However, it’s important to check weather conditions and accessibility before planning your trip.

Visiting Fairy Meadows is a must, since it is a single-day trek and lets one witness one of the highest mountains in Pakistan i.e., Nanga Parbat which is 8,125 meters high whereas, Fairy Meadows is elevated at a height of 8,000 meters and provides easy access to reach Nanga Parbat.

Reaching and staying at Fairy Meadows

From the Raikhot Bridge across the Karakoram Highway, the jeep track to Fairy Meadows is 15 km long that ends in the village of Tato. It takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete a hike for Fairy Meadows from Tato.

The jeep ride to Fairy Meadows is very unsafe with full of escapades. After that, either hiking or pony ride will take one to the grassland of Fairy Meadows. Locals began the camping sites within the area in 1992. It is completely safe to stay in the widespread greenland of Fairy Meadows.

There are many options for accommodation at Fairy Meadows, from camps to luxury cottages.

The prices vary accordingly. Change of seasons puts a great impact on the prices. Each campsite offers various food options but mainly “daal” is accessible.
