“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” (Saint Augustine)
Miranjani is the highest peak in the Galyat Region, located at an elevation of 2,992 meters in the Namli Maira area in Ayubia National Park, 80 kilometers north of Islamabad, in the Abbottabad District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Miranjani is famous for its fantastic trek. It has an abundance of natural beauty, flowers, and natural forest.
The hike begins at the well-known church in Nathia Gali. The route leading to Governor House ahead of the church is the way to follow. There is a right downward turn just before Governor House. Then there is a T-junction where the right turn leads to Bakot forest, and the straight path leads to Abshaar road. After moving ahead a little further, another T-junction is the main starting point of the trek.
A white cottage leads to Khan Kalaan, while the straight or left path leads to Namli Maira villages and the waterfall.
The initial altitude of the path from a hike starts is about 7650 feet. From here, hike to the top elevation of Miranjani top is at 9660 feet. The total distance from the bottom trek to Miranjani Top is 5 km on one side. Therefore, it takes almost 3 to 3.5 hours for expert hikers but, on the other hand, 5 to 6 hours for the people with non-trekking experience.
Although the trail is soft, primarily ground but at some point, it becomes more complicated due to the rocks and ascends. That is why children and females who are not addicted to hik-ing should not go to the top.
Besides all, the way to the peak is lined by large trees and lush vegetation. The alluring beauty soothes the mind and soul. Reaching on the top, Nathia Gali, Mushkpuri Peak, and Azad Kashmir are visible locations from Miranjani.
Usually, people go there throughout the year, even in winters. However, winter hikes at Miranjani can be challenging due to knee-deep snow.
August and September are the best months to hike to the top.
On the approach to Miranjani Top, there are no camping options. First and foremost, due to the presence of leopards in the region, camping is not encouraged. Second, there are no hotels available throughout the way or at the top.
However, two open spots can be used to sit and rest, have meals, or camp if someone wants to spend more time during the journey.
• Food and fresh water are not available on this hike. Therefore, carry enough water bottles to last 4-5 hours.
• If you plan to hike to Miranjani Peak, bring some snacks with you.
The weather and temperature in Miranjani are excellent in the summers and bitterly cold in the winters.
It also rains a lot in the winter, so a raincoat is required to bring along.
A few local hotels are Alpine Hotel and Resort, Hotel Elites Nathia Gali, Summer Retreat Hotel, and Lemon Lodges.
A trip to Miranjani can be one of life’s most memorable experiences. It is exciting and magical to see snowy peaks with foggy mornings and blooming sunsets.
