The phenomenal sight of Panjpeer attracts many hikers throughout the Rocks journey, right from the bottom to the top of the Rocks, where the spectacular view is found. The beautiful shrine lies there at the top of the Rocks, where you can see the stunning views of Makra and the different mountains of Kaghan –in the North- and Kashmir (in the East). Locality Assessment of Punjpeer Rocks

Panjpeer Rocks is located about 70 km away from Islamabad’s capital, in the Kahuta district, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Kotli Sattian, Pakistan. It is the highest point of the Danoi Ridge, Kotli Sattian. The name is originated from the combination of three words, Panj and Peer which, basically mean five saints, added with the Hard Rocks. Fundamentally it is believed that the five Saints who came here had settled in this area of rocks.
Moreover, from the top of the Rocks, the most thrilling and peaceful view can be seen. In addition, the site provides some lush greenery that is even more appealing. The ridge of the Panjpeer Rocks is at an altitude of around 1800 meters (about 5905 feet).

Atmospheric Conditions

The climate of Panjpeer Rocks is subtropical at different times of the year. For example, during winter, from November to February, the lowest average temperature can be up to 0°C, and the highest average temperature can go up to 11°C. Similarly, during the summer season, the lowest average temperature goes up to 14°C, and the highest average temperature reaches up to 25°C. Thus, the weather can stay primarily cold and damp; however, there are times when the weather can be surprisingly warm and humid. In addition, throughout the winter, there are times when snowfall occurs.

Things to do at Punjpeer Rocks

By road, it takes around two hours to get from Islamabad to Kahuta. A little bit challenging trek of three to four hours is required to reach the mountain range’s summit; the trail travels through spectacular waterfalls, lush woods, lovely streams, magnificent peaks, the beauty and tranquility of the 12km trek from Narar village to the summit of the rock formations is memorable.
Besides all, Camping is the finest and most adventurous choice, but you may also reserve a stay in a mountain rest house run by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) in Rawalpindi. While sitting on the ridge’s rocky plateau, you may see the dawn and sunset. Moreover, you can feel a noticeable sensation of peace while sitting on the rocks with the wind on your face. Likewise, another thing that you can do at Panjpeer Rocks is to make memories and take photos of the site. This is an extraordinary place for photography. The different arrangements of the stones are awe-inspiring, which makes it a perfect place for pictures.
Panjpeer Rocks is one of the less crowded locations where one may enjoy the weather with little or no haze during the day. Punjpeer rocks’ ledges and cliffs are ideal for rock climbing and paragliding up to Kotli-sattian road, AJK. A trip to the Punj Peer shrine, where the saints’ footsteps are carved into the stones, is necessary.
